The Ungrateful Singaporean.
Out in the mass media, in parliament, in the cyberspace and at the coffee shops, everywhere, there has been complaints, grumblings, rumblings, snips and snipes, and even outright belittling and humiliation upon the person judged and sentenced to be The Ungrateful Singaporean.
For more than 43 years, the PAP ministers have been working very very hard, sacrificing everything they have, to struggle and bring forth a tiny discarded sea-port to a 1st World Nation. Moreover, they are also the best of the best talents in this whole wide world that all Singaporeans should be so proud of without any reservations. They are also totally uncorruptible and of the highest integrity that this corrupted and mediocre world has ever produced. Their efficiency produced so many Firsts in the Guinness Book of Records, for example being the 1st to indirectly, though unintentionally, influence the overthrow of an elected government without sending troops to invade the country, like what the US did in Afghanistan and Iraq. Therefore, all Singaporeans should and must be appreciative of their extra-ordinary qualities and incalculable worth and should never argue whether they should be allowed to dictate how much they are paid.
If you do, you must be an Ungrateful Singaporean!
These extra-ordinary people actually could have become CEOs and top-class professionals in any field of private enterprises and would be drawing much more than what they have been paid. They actually had never wanted to become politicians. They are doing it because of you Singaporeans. They are doing it against their own free will because they have been selected by The System and IT dictates that they must become politicians for the greater good of the greater whole. As such, they simply have no choice but to go for elections and attend Meet-the-People Sessions, and speak out in Parliament for the govt and their party against their own free will and personal conviction, and only get a meagre MP's allowance of $13,500 per month for their sacrifices to take their precious time off from their family and personal golf lessons. Therefore, all Singaporeans should and must be sympathetic and kind to these people and should never say that they are selfish and self-centred people.
If you do, you must be an Ungrateful Singaporean!
Over and above being an MP, these extra-ordinary people have to do multi-tasking. They have to hold so many appointments and positions. They have to be ministers as well as presidents or chairmen of board of directors. They have to be parliamentary secretaries as well as directors of at least ten companies at the same time. They have to take charge and control the functions and activities of all the grass root organisations. They have to attend long hours of rally speeches and the numerous campaigns to let their photos be taken by the annoying photograhers of the mass medias. They have to go to risk their lifes by going to high-risk and mediocre countries to get investors to come to Singapore to invest. They have to risk their reputation by visiting places of ill-repute, like casinos and red light areas, in order to get first-hand knowledge to help improve Singapore's economy. They are really very over-worked, having to work 24 hours a day, without any sleep and time for their own wives and children. Therefore, all Singaporeans should and must be aware and understanding what these people are going through and should never complain that they are drawing so much salaries, bonuses, directors' fees, perks and pensions.
If you do, you must be an Ungrateful Singaporean!
What is even more heartening is that having made it to the top of the pinnacle of life, they have voluntarily elected to pay penance by punishing themselves to slog for the people well past their retirement age. Despite having achieved multi-millionaire status with a huge stash of cash in their bank accounts and in other profitable investments, they refuse to retire to enjoy their twilight years and spend quality time with their grand children and great grand children. All these great personal sacrifices have been selflessly made though nobody has ever asked them to do so. Therefore, all Singaporeans should and must show unreserved respect to these people and should never call them names or ask them to step down.
If you do, you must be an Ungrateful Singaporean!
Without this group of extra-ordinary people, Singapore will sink and your wives and daughters will have to become maids in foreign lands. These people are so valuable and we simply cannot do without them at all, whether you like it or not. Therefore, all Singaporeans should and must be afraid of losing them to the private sectors and hold dearly to these people like your own lifes.
If you don't, you must be an Ungrateful Singaporean!
